I HAD A NIGHTMARE:  Donald Trumpf and His Knew Klu Krew

I had a nightmare last night.

I had a dream that one day America would rise up and live up to the true meaning of its constitution: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

I had a dream that one day on the blood red streets of America, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners would be able to sit down together on the bench of brotherhood.  But that dream turned out to be a nightmare when I saw the sons of slave owners wandering the streets of Kenosha with their AK-15s, asking local cops where they might find sons of former slaves to shoot.  And the local police gladly gave them directions.

I had a dream one day that even the District of Columbia, Washington, a district sweltering with the heat of injustice, a district sweltering with the heat of oppression, would be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice with the upcoming election.  But Donald Trumpf has a Knew Klu Krew out on the streets and this time they’re not carrying nooses…they carry their American AK’s, the ArmaLite R-15.  A hundred years ago, Klansmen rode around the countryside carrying rope to suppress the black vote.  Now this new Klu Klux Klan, Donald Trumpf’s Knew Klu Krew, are carrying Automatic Kalashnikovs of the American persuasion to suppress the black vote.

I had a dream that one day Martin Luther King’s four children would live in a nation where they would not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.  But this has turned out to be a nightmare.  A nightmare that started in 2016.

America…you have a responsibility, as a world leading democratic country, to elect qualified people into your Presidency.

America…you have a responsibility to not elect your Presidents based on the belief that the rest of the world will fear their lunacy and thereby get you a better deal.

America…you are better than this.

The America I know puts men on the moon.  It shows the rest of the world how to get things done by using science and technology.  How to do what is hard to do.

The America I know doesn’t let a Pandemic kill hundreds of thousands of its own.  It does what it does in its Hollywood movies and steps up to plate and shows the rest of the world how to beat a contagion.  There is no “it is what it is”.

The America I know doesn’t let the Knew Klu Krew wander the streets with their American AK’s, supressing the black vote, maligning Malcolm’s cry of the ballot or the bullet.

And the America I know doesn’t elect Game Show Hosts for its Presidents.  You know, the kind that shouts “You’re Fired” to all his White House staffers.

The America I know cranks out the best steel and cars and planes you can get anywhere on the planet.

The America I know makes the best country music and rock and roll anywhere, including off this planet (but I do believe the one guy with a guitar in space was a Canadian).

And the America I know plays the best Baseball, Football and sometimes even Hockey in the world, and a big part of that high standard of play is contributed by players of colour.

That is why it is so heartbreaking to watch the sons of slave owners, the Knew Klu Krew, walking the streets of Kenosha, murdering American citizens, both black and white, on the streets of urban America while police officers look on in tacit approval.  A gang of police irrationally murder a black victim, usually shouting ‘drop the knife’ or ‘drop the gun’, a tactic often used by military war criminals to get a massacre started, then they wait for the riot they know is coming, the riot they’ve started, and they watch in tacit approval while the Knew Klu Krew moves in with their AK’s to suppress the black vote, while at the same time garnering support from a panicked middle class white America.  Sounds far fetched?  Really?  Have you watched the Republican National Convention speeches this year?

According to the Trumpf supporters, yes Trumpf, the way his father spelled their surname in Germany before immigrating to America less than a full generation ago (according to Donald Trumpf), America will cease to exist if Herr Trumpf is not re-elected.  America was founded long before the Trumpfs came to America and America will be here long after he is gone.  And according to the Donald himself, he has done a great job in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic in America.  We all know that is another lie.  Another Trumpf fabrication.  If our leaders had handled this Corona virus outbreak like we handled the 2003 SARs outbreak, American deaths would be under 50,000, less than the American deaths of the Vietnam war, but thanks to Trumpf’s totally ineffective response to the virus, over 300,000 American lives will be lost before this disaster is over, more than the total American lives lost in WW1, WW2 and the Vietnam war combined.  And those deaths are all his fault!  And America’s.  For electing an incompetent Game Show Host as your President.  It is getting hard to watch the absolute incompetence of our leaders.  The Trumpfs, the Bolsonaros, the Boris Johnsons must be held accountable for the deaths caused by their absolute incompetence.

And kudos must be given to world leaders who have successfully dealt with this pandemic, most of whom are female.  The Merkels, the Arderns and the Jakobsdottirs will be the first to tell you that empathy is the first requirement needed to fight a pandemic.  And those leaders without empathy, the Trumpfs, the Bolsonaros, the Johnsons, have been the first to lead their supporters down the wrong path (and, not so coincidentally, have all caught Covid themselves).

So please, America, take some responsibility for the competence and quality of the Presidents you elect.  Take your upcoming election opportunity to elect somebody who is not a Game Show Host, whose only ability is in garnering ratings.  Elect someone else.  Hold Donald Trumpf accountable for his criminally incompetent, bleach injecting response to the Covid-19 pandemic.  His case can be lined up behind the rape trials that are pending and waiting for him once his presidency has ended.  Please do this because it is getting too hard to watch.  We’ll have to build a wall, but our border is much longer than Mexico’s and I don’t think we’ll be able to get the Mexicans to pay for this one either.  If we do build a wall, we’ll do it by using fabricated steel modules made in Shanghai…called containers.  It’s cheaper than shipping them back to China empty.
